Colin Farrell is out of rehab and was out in Los Angeles, as he was snapped shopping at Gelson's Market in the Los Feliz neighborhood on Saturday. The actor, 41, kept a low profile in a black painter's cap with a woolly cloud grey sweater over a sky blue shirt with black jeans and tan hiking boots.
The True Detective star wore multiple wristbands and emerged from the grocery store with a cart full of items.
The Phone Booth actor has 'been sober 12 years and wanted to do this to make sure he stays that way,' the insider told the magazine. 'He’s taking some me-time and doing a tune-up and a reset. This was all his idea.'
They say he 'decided to preemptively check himself in before it went to a bad place,' as he felt 'he should get ahead of it before he starts using again.
'He didn't want to go down that rabbit hole again,' the source added. 'He's so hyper aware that he's an addict that he felt that he could very easily start using again ... another week and he could have started using again.
The father-of-two - to sons James, 14, with Kim Bordenave, and Henry, nine, with Polish actress Alicja Bachleda-Curuś - had past been treated in rehab 13 years ago.
Farrell has been hard at work on a number of high-profile projects as of late, including a crime drama titled Widows, starring Viola Davis, Liam Neeson and Daniel Kaluuya; and a live action Dumbo, directed by Tim Burton and starring Michael Keaton and Danny DeVito.
